Kyocera Fineceramics Group
This Statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that KYOCERA Fineceramics GmbH and its affiliates (hereinafter collectively referred to as "KYOCERA Fineceramics Group") have taken during the financial year 2018 to prevent slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business.
Our business and operation
KYOCERA Fineceramics GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KYOCERA Corporation Japan (hereinafter referred to as "KCJ") and is part of the globally acting KYOCERA group (hereinafter referred to as "KYOCERA Group"). We are headquartered in Esslingen, Germany, with sales offices in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Russia, China and a large presence in Scandinavia.
The KYOCERA Fineceramics Group sell ceramic components for various industrial applications, ceramic kitchenware, printing devices for industrial printing solutions as well as industrial cutting tools and fastening solutions for the building industry.
A significant portion of the products sold by the KYOCERA Fineceramics Group are supplied by KCJ. The cutting tool products are either manufactured within KYOCERA Group (Japan, Denmark, Lithuania, United Kingdom, USA) or by suppliers in Europe or Asia.
Kyocera philosophy and policies
KYOCERA Fineceramics Group manages its business according to the KYOCERA Philosophy relating to life and management. Its central principle is to "Do what is right as a human being," a concept that is applied in all our decision making processes. By showing the importance of fairness and diligent effort, it serves as a paradigm for our conduct.
The entire KYOCERA Group is operated in accordance with the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact on Human Rights, which KCJ joined in 2011. In 2014 KCJ established the "Kyocera Group CSR Guidelines" as their code of conduct for business activities throughout KYOCERA Group, which includes commitments to respect the human rights of employees and to eliminate slavery and human trafficking. KYOCERA Group has a zero tolerance policy on trafficked, bonded, child, forced or compulsory labour or servitude.
Activities related to prevention of slavery and human trafficking
The greatest risk of slavery and human trafficking lies in the raw material stage, where the KYOCERA Group relies on third party suppliers of the materials and components contained in our products. In response to this risk, the KYOCERA Group companies distribute the "Supply-Chain CSR Deployment Guideline" to first-tier suppliers, and have requested them to comply with our guidelines and values.
