Kyocera Completed Acquisition of Advanced Ceramic Business of Germany-based Friatec GmbH
Acquisition further expands Kyocera’s fine ceramics sector in Europe.

Kyoto/London - Following the agreement with Mannheim-based Friatec GmbH ("Friatec") in May 2019, Kyocera Fineceramics GmbH, Kyocera Corporation’s Germany-based European headquarters, successfully completed the acquisition of Friatec’s advanced ceramics business operations.The regulatory filings, which are necessary under the anti-trust and investment related regulations, have been approved by administrative authorities. The operations have now been transferred to the subsidiary Kyocera Fineceramics Solutions GmbH.
Since its founding in 1959, Kyocera has provided advanced ceramic components for a wide range of markets, including industrial machinery, information devices, medical devices, and environmental preservation / renewable energy equipment. The company has supported various industries by utilizing technologies cultivated through its research, development, and production of fine ceramics.
The acquisition of the ceramic business of Friatec GmbH, now Kyocera Fineceramics Solutions GmbH, in May 2019 gave Kyocera its second fine ceramic manufacturing facility in Europe. Thereby, Kyocera meets the rising demand for fine ceramic components used in industrial machinery. To further expand its fine ceramic business, Kyocera strengthens its capabilities for developing and supplying prototypes with short delivery times.
