KYOCERA Document Solutions UK Ltd has announced that its latest HyPAS app, Teaching Assistant, has been awarded 4.5 stars out of a possible 5 in an independent review by Buyers Laboratory (BLI), the leading authority and provider of competitive intelligence, testing and reviews on the imaging industry.

Designed to meet the specific needs of the UK education sector, Teaching Assistant transforms a KYOCERA MFP into an on-demand test creating, marking and analysis hub. It allows teachers to automatically mark student papers on the MFP, ensures accurate test reporting and allows them more time to focus on their students.

This much sought-after accolade was given after a rigorous testing process, with the HyPAS app scoring full marks for value and ease of administration. BLI highlighted the time and resource saving benefits in particular, which were recognised as allowing teachers to concentrate more on face-to-face tutoring and classroom activities, and less on laborious administrative tasks. The fact that Teaching Assistant can be deployed as a completely MFP-resident solution, installed by the KYOCERA reseller, rather than requiring configuration assistance and ongoing support from a school’s IT personnel, was also commended.

“KYOCERA’s Teaching Assistant is an intuitive, convenient testing and grading system, and will add great value to any school with its ability to assess student performance very efficiently, helping inform teachers on where to focus additional instruction,” said BLI’s Solution Analyst, Ilja Reuckis. “School administrators will appreciate that the solution demands little in the way of IT involvement and all that teachers need is just a quick tutorial at the MFP and desktop before they can start to reap the benefits of using Teaching Assistant. What it delivers is all-important time and resource savings for teachers, who will spend significantly less time scoring tests and analysing classroom performance, since that process is automated for them.”

Sarah White, Product Marketing Manager, KYOCERA Document Solutions UK Ltd said: “We’re delighted to have received such a glowing report for Teaching Assistant, and this is certainly one report that won’t sit in the loft gathering dust! This endorsement from a well-respected organisation such as BLI justifies our belief in this product, and our confidence that it will help make the pressurised lives of teachers a little easier.”

Teaching Assistant is very simple to use - all teachers have to do is enter into the device the amount of questions, possible answers and sheets needed for the class. To mark the test, they then simply fill out the key sheet marked with the barcode label and scan it in before entering the students’ answer sheets. The KYOCERA MFP will then be able to automatically assess the test according to the correct answers and various results charts can be printed, sent to the teacher’s email address, exported as a CSV file or simply saved on a USB stick. The whole process can be managed directly from the MFPs intuitive and easy to use touch screen menu.
