Special Ceramics

Al2O3

Sapphire

Sapphire is a single-crystal alumina, a transparent material with excellent chemical stability and valuable mechanical, thermal and optical properties. Its material properties are vastly superior to glass, quartz and other mass-produced transparent materials.

2MgO/2Al2O/5SiO2

Cordierite

Cordierite is an extremely lightweight material with low thermal expansion and excellent strength, rigidity and thermal shock resistance.

Y2O3

Yttria

Its excellent plasma resistance is ideal for applications in semiconductor processing equipment where particle contamination must be avoided. It contributes to productivity improvement by reducing equipment maintenance requirements.

AIN

Aluminium Nitride

With its properties of electrical insulation and excellent thermal conductivity, Aluminium Nitride is ideal for applications where heat dissipation is required. In addition, since it offers a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) near that of silicon, and excellent plasma resistance, it is used for semiconductor processing equipment components.

TiC/TiN

Cermet

Compound materials composed mainly of TiC or TiN and NbC, with metals such as Co, Ni or Mo. With excellent wear resistance, cermet has less adhesion to metal and is widely used for cutting tools, wear-resistant tools in electronics manufacturing and sliding parts. It can also be brazed with metal.

3Al2O3/2SiO2

Mullite

Excellent heat and thermal shock resistance, and particularly good creep resistance. Its thermal expansion index approximates that of a silicon semiconductor chip.

MgO/SiO2

Steatite

Superior electrical and mechanical properties with good mechanical machining performance.

2MgO/SiO2

Forsterite

Featuring low microwave loss, excellent insulation at high temperatures, and a smooth surface, forsterite is ideal for use in electron tube parts and circuit substrates. Due to its high coefficient of thermal expansion, it bonds easily with metal and glass.
